Pearson Test of English (PTE)
PTE Academic test is an entrance requirement to Academic courses in the US, Australia, New Zealand. It assesses the student’s listening, reading, speaking and writing all via computer in a single 3 hour test session. PTE Academic assesses real-life, academic content, so you will hear excerpts from lectures and view graphs and charts. You will hear a range of accents in the test, from British and American to non-native speakers; thus, you will be exposed to a myriad range of accents that you will encounter in everyday life.
PTE FORMAT
Score - 90, Total Time: 3 hours
The PTE Academic test is a three-hour test session. There are three main parts to the test: Speaking and Writing (together), Listening, and Reading. There are twenty different question formats, ranging from multiple choices through to essay writing and interpreting information.
Versions of PTE test
The PTE has two versions – the PTE academic and PTE general
1.The PTE academic is specially designed for students who plan to study in an under graduation or post-graduation program where the medium of instruction will be in English
2.PTE general gauges an immigrant’s ability to communicate easily in English and assimilate in an English speaking society.
Test results for PTE
1. The test results are generally declared within five working days of the date of taking the test
2. The scores for PTE Academic are valid for a period of two years from the test date once the validity period expires, the PTE score will be taken off the site and cannot be seen any longer.
3. The scores for PTE General are valid forever and do not have any expiry dates
4. There is no passing mark for PTE academics and universities are allowed to use their own discretion to set scores as a threshold for admission.
5.No minimum PTE is benchmarked for PTE general and countries set their own benchmarks when evaluating candidates for immigration.
REGISTRATION PROCESS
The examination fee for PTE is Rs. 13,300/- One can register online at www.pearsonpte.com at any of the Career-Crafters center and pay the test fee by credit card (Master/VISA) or debit card. The late booking examination fee would be Rs.13,625/-
The student has the option after the test to list down the names of as many universities FREE OF COST on the PTE account of the student, which will be sent to the universities. The PTE scores are valid for 2 years.
