HSK (Hanyu Shiping Kaoshi) or the Chinese proficiency Test is an international standardized exam that tests and rates Chinese language proficiency. It evaluates Chinese language abilities for non-native Chinese speakers in terms of using the Chinese language in their daily, academic and professional lives.
Can understand and use familiar Chinese everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type. Can introduce him/herself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people he/she knows, and things he/she has.
Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help. During the 30 hour course, students will learn 200 Mandarin words, 30 key grammar points and read and write 20 characters.
At the end of the course, students will be able to follow the general meaning of a conversation on familiar subjects, handle common social and routine work situations, refashion and combine learned material to meet their immediate communicative and learning needs. Comprehend information on familiar topics in contextualized settings.
Can understand sentences and frequently used Chinese expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment). Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment, and matters in areas of immediate need. . During the 30-hour course, students will learn more than 230 new Mandarin words, 30 additional key grammar points, write 18 commonly used Mandarin characters and read and recognize over 80 Mandarin characters.
Having attained the essence of the language, learners will be able to communicate competently, effectively, and comfortably in professional and personal contexts finding different ways of formulating what they want to say.
Can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
Can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst traveling in an area where the language is spoken. Can produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest.

During the 30 hour course, students will learn more than 300 new Mandarin words, 35 key grammar points, write the stroke orders of 25 commonly used Mandarin characters and read and recognize over 100 Mandarin characters.
