Zertifikat Deutsch (ZD) is the international exam for the German language. It tests the level of proficiency of the foreign or non-native students of the language. This exam is conducted by the joint collaboration of the Goethe institute, Österreichischem Sprachdiplom (Austrian Language Diploma), the Schweizer Erziehungsdirektorenkonferenz (Swiss Education Director’s Conference) and WBT Weiterbildungs-Testsysteme gGmbH.
The exam levels are equivalent to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). The exam types may differ according to your need. There are some other exams such as Zertifikat Deutsch für den Beruf (ZDfB), Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache (TestDaF) which also are the internationally acclaimed exam for German language.
